One of the most amazing aspects of my family growing up was my great grandmother. she was a nanny for some of the wealthiest families in the country, and she was my first doula teacher! There was nothing this woman didn't know about babies. So, when I am working with a postpartum family, I am able to honor her through this work. Which makes it all the more important to me. As this woman and I had such a special bond that she actually passed away on my birthday just because she wanted to make it to the last one she could. She taught me to love every child as my own while respecting parents' boundaries and roles.
