blessed beginnings doula care

FAQ's
What exactly does a doula do?
A doula provides emotional, physical, and educational support to women during their pregnancy, labor, and postpartum seasons in life. As a Christian based business we also offer spiritual support for clients. It is important to remember a doula is not a medical professional. Therefore we can not provide medical advice to clients.
When should I hire a doula?
It is considered best to hire a doula early in your pregnancy. However, if it is late in your pregnancy it is still worth reaching out to doulas to see if they have any availability. Some do charge extra fee's if your due date is very close, but Blessed Beginnings does not. As long as we have availability we will gladly take on clients at no extra charge!
What if I need help with breastfeeding or postpartum challenges?
All of our packages include postpartum support and more can always be added on. We also continue our text support with mothers as long as they need during their postpartum periods. When you hire Blessed Beginnings you are not just a client, so you will not be treated as one. We are here for you!
How far do you travel?
Blessed Beginnings serves Virginia Beach and towns within a 15 mile radius typically. However, for a small travel fee we are happy to accommodate women who are further away. The travel fee is not a flat rate and does depend on the distance and any tolls that will be required to pay.
Are your services faith based?
Many of our services are based in Christian faith. However, you do not need to be a Christian to hire Blessed Beginnings. Faith will not be pushed onto you. This business is seen as a ministry, and a way to spread the gospel, but we spread the gospel through our actions. Not by trying to convert our clients.
Do you work with hospitals, birth centers, and home births?
Yes, no matter where you want to give birth Blessed Beginnings would be honored to be a part of your journey. Every birth is unique, it of course makes sense that they wont all happen in the same environment. We also are flexible if the environment needs to change.
How much do your services cost?
You can find all our prices on our services page. We have transparent prices, so the pricing you see is what you pay. The only exception to those prices is if a sliding scale is needed, or if you are eligible for our military/veteran discount.
What does pro-life mean for your services?
At our core it means that we honor mom and baby. To us both lives will always deserve to be honored, loved, and cherished. Because we acknowledge unborn babies as living human beings, we do not provide services that support abortion. We also do provide 5% of our profit to local crisis pregnancy centers.
How do I schedule a consultation?
You can use the contact form or use the buttons on the top of the home page or the services page on this website.
Do you provide support for partners and family members?
Of course! Yes, birth is something a woman physically goes through. But that doesn't mean everything is meant to fall on her shoulders. Everyone on your birthing team needs support so they can support you to the best of their abilities!
